Built to keep retirement portfolios out of harm's way
Numenor was founded on a simple observation: most drawdown damage happens quietly, long before anyone notices. We exist to close that gap with continuous monitoring and automated response.
Why we started Numenor
Retirement portfolios face a particular kind of risk: sequence-of-returns risk compounded by inattention. Markets move fast, and by the time a human notices a drawdown pattern forming, meaningful value has often already eroded.
Numenor began as an effort to apply predictive risk modeling to this exact problem — not as a trading signal service, but as a protective layer that works continuously in the background, watching for conditions that typically precede sustained losses.
What started as a modeling exercise has grown into a dedicated platform, built specifically for portfolios where capital preservation matters as much as growth.
Protect first, grow second
Most financial tools are built to chase upside. We built Numenor to do the opposite: to identify when a portfolio is drifting into dangerous territory and act on that information before the drawdown deepens. Growth matters, but growth that isn't defended isn't durable.
The principles behind our approach
Clarity over complexity
Risk signals are only useful if they're understood. We favor transparent, explainable indicators over opaque black-box scoring.
Defense before offense
Our models are tuned to prioritize capital protection. Avoiding large losses matters more than catching every rally.
Continuous vigilance
Risk doesn't take breaks, and neither does our monitoring. Conditions are assessed on an ongoing basis, not just at review time.
How we think about risk
We treat drawdown protection as an engineering problem, not a forecasting one. Rather than trying to predict exact market turns, Numenor looks for patterns historically associated with elevated downside risk and adjusts exposure accordingly.
This means our platform is designed to act early and consistently, removing emotional decision-making from a process where discipline tends to outperform intuition.
A focused, risk-first team
Numenor is built and maintained by a small team with backgrounds spanning quantitative analysis, software engineering, and portfolio risk management. We stay deliberately focused: one problem, solved thoroughly, rather than a broad suite of loosely related tools.
We work directly with the advisors and platforms that rely on Numenor, using that feedback to keep refining how our models detect and respond to risk.
